History

In 2010 the downtown Red Bluff Business Association began “Food from the Heart” as a community project to help feed our local hungry. For two weeks in February businesses collected canned food and dry goods to be donated to local food banks to be distributed. It was a huge success and “Food from the Heart” became an annual event. In 2012 this project went city wide and 77 businesses stepped up and collected over 4,000 pounds of food. This is when I had a conversation with Dennis Albright and he made me aware that thru the Tehama County Community Action Agency and the North Sate Food Bank that 100 pounds of good nutritious food, including fresh produce could be bought for only $18.00.
Realizing that it took $3,700 in donated advertising to collect the 4,000 pounds and wanting to provide the most nutritious food possible and help the most people, the DRBBA turned “Food from the Heart” over to The Community Action Agency and Tehama County Food Share and the Food From the Heart became a FUND drive. The Gold Exchange has partnered with these agencies and we are taking it countywide. We have partnered with 18 food banks throughout the county to assist in the procurement of food for disadvantaged families.  We are seeking 250 generous Tehama County businesses to display a collection jar June 16th through the 30th and commit to raising $100 for the purchase of food. All funds raised will be evenly distributed throughout participating Tehama County Hunger Relief Charities for food procurement.
